Matar Paratha


  • Wheat flour - 2 cups
  • Green peas(matar) -1 cup(boiled)
  • Onion - 1 (chopped)
  • Ginger -1/2 inch piece
  • Garlic -5-6 cloves
  • Cumin powder -1tsp
  • Red chilli powder-1tsp
  • Asafoetida a pinch
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as per required
  • Oil


Take the flour, salt and keep aside in a bowl and knead into a soft dough using water as required.keep side 20-30

Heat oil in a pan, Add onion, ginger and garlic and saute until light brown. Add asafoetida, cumin powder and red chilli powder. Add the peas and salt to taste and cook until dry.Remove in a plate to cool. When cool, grind coarsely and divide into equal portions. Shape into small balls.

Divide the dough into equal portions and make pedas. Roll each part into a three-inch disk, place a stuffing ball in center.Gather edges and deployment in a thick parantha.

Heat a tava and cook each paratha, using  oil until golden brown spots appear on both sides.

      Serve  hot with Pickle or Curd
