Tomato Dosa

Tomato Dosa


  • Rice - 1 Cup
  • Tomato - 4 
  • Cumin Powder -1/2tsp
  • Red Chilli Powder -1/2 tsp
  • Coriander Leaves -few springs
  • Mustard Seeds -1/2 tsp
  • Cumin Seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Split Urid dal - 1/2 tsp
  • Curry Leaves - few
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil


Rinse raw rice in water and soak in water for 3 hours. After 3 hours, drain the water and add rice to the blender with the tomatoes coarsely chopped.

Grind the rice and tomatoes in a beautiful and smooth. Take the batter in a bowl and add the cumin powder, red chili powder and salt and mix well

In a saucepan, heat the oil and add the mustard seeds.When the mustard seeds start to sputter, add  cumin seeds, split Urad dal and saute until the dal turns golden brown color. Add some curry leaves and remove from heat. Add ingredients to seasoned batter and finally add the chopped coriander leaves

Heat a tawa, and when the tawa is hot, add a ladle of tomato paste dosa and expand to a thin dosa. Add very little oil and keep the flame down and let the dosa cook on one side. Then flip it to the other side and cook. When dosa is cooked and becomes slightly crispy.

 Serve hot with chutney
