Coconut Tomato Chutney

Coconut Tomato Chutney


  • Tomato - 4
  • Coconut(grated)-1/4 cup
  • Red  chillies - 4
  • Cumin seeds -1/2 tsp
  • Urad dal - 11/2 tsps
  • Chana dal -2 tsps
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil -1 tbsp


In a pan heat oil, add the cumin seeds and let them brown, add urad dal, channa dal, red chillies and fry until dals turn red. Add the grated coconut and roast for another 3 mts. Remove from heat and let cool.

 In the same pan, add the tomato slices and fry until the moisture evaporates. Turn off heat and let cool.

Grind coconut shredded mixture. Then add the cooled mixture of tomato, salt  and make a paste. Add few tbsps of water.

serve with Idli or Dosas
