Moong Dal Kachori


  • Maida - 2cups
  • Moong dal - 3/4cup(soaked)
  • Cumin seeds - 1tsp
  • Ginger - 1 inch piece
  • Greenchillies -3(chopped)
  • Red chilli powder- 2 tsp
  • Garam masala powder - 1 tsp
  • Amchurpowder - 1 tsp
  • Asafoetida - pinch
  • Turmeric powder -1/4tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as per required
  • Oil


Take Maida flour, salt and oil in a bowl, add enough water and knead to a smooth dough.Cover with a wet muslin cloth and keep aside for 20 minutes.

Boil moong dal half cup of water until just cooked and dry, mash Lightly.

Heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds, asafoetida, ginger, green chillies and fry on afew seconds and add moong dal, garam masala powder, red chilli powder, amchur, Salt Well well and add little water Cook over medium heat for 5 minutes to 7, while stirring.

Remove from heat and transfer the mixture into a bowl and mash slightly. Spread the stuffing in equal pportions
Divide the dough into equal portions. Roll each portion and press to make puris.

Place a portion of the filling in the centre.Bring together all sides, sealed and remove any excess dough.
Gently roll the filled kachori again into  circle, while ensuring that the filling does not spill out, press the center of the kachori with your thumb.

Heat oil in a kadai and fry  the Kachoris in  medium hot oil until crisp and golden . Drain and place on absorbent paper.
